The related links is a waste of space. It definitely does not relate to rankings.

i was just curious to know this ... as related links are start showing after 18 months. As i dont have funds to purchase paid links so SEO thingy is hard for me.

some times things are hard when you dont have a budget.

Perhaps in the short run but in the long run it's probably better that you don't. Work on it slowly and acquire relevant and meaningful links cumulatively; while you're doing that tweak your pages and add new content. Eventually, you'll be where you want to be without the expense of carrying ongoing fees for paid links and you won't run the risk of seeing yopur site disappear into the abyss if those paid links go belly-up or get black-balled.

I have never, ever paid for a link or directory inclusion and never will. It's a matter of principle for me.

minstrel don't you think submitting to the microsoft small business directory is worth the $49/year. you get 10 links, and it is listed in 3 different categories.

If it's worth it to you, go for it. As I said, for me it's a matter of principle. My view is if I have to pay you to get a link I don't need your link. I have plenty of good sites linking to me for free.

Do you have the same principle if someone wants to pay you for a link ;)

I don't have anyone paying me for a link currently. I wouldn't necessarily refuse to consider a proposal but whether I'd agree would depend on several things, notably (1) where the individual wants the link (including which site and the physical location on the page), and (2) what the link points to (if I find it offensive or it has nothing to do with my site or general interests, then probably no - Coop ads on two forums excepted).

All links in my relatively new niche psychology and mental health directory can be had for free - if someone wants to pay me for a premium highlighted link, I'll take the fee for that if the link would otherwise be approved.

thanks alot that set my moral high, i think slow and steady wins the race but a Rank of my site drops from 4 to PR3 as i didnt do link building or resciporal link exchange for 3 months nor posted on many forums.

But i started it once again and will hoping for good rank when the next PR Update would occur.

Have you notice my sign I updated today my first proffessional sign on dp forums is that count link building ?
