Ok first off, suggest me a good Title for this thread after you read this. :D

I want to register a domain name but I want to know If the company can sue me... lets see they make a new a game called gameXK, ok they will probably make the second part of the game which would be gameXK2, they havent registered the gameXK2.com and I do, can they sue me?

ps. Im going to be nice $ $

algo, what happened to the $1.99 domain registration? it seems that yahoo and godaddy are selling domains for 7 or 8 bucks..

    thanks.

Yes they can sue. Most domain registrars charge $7-$9 and if you saw a $2 deal then it was most likely a special offer.

well u have the 360forum...what if the xbox team decides to make the xbox 360 message boards and sue you.

I dont know but it looks weird, what if I set the price for less than $999, plus before they "sue", can they just send me an email asking for a low price ? all they want is the domain name right?

Thye cannot sue you if you register the name before they lauch the next version of the game.

But the name should not be parked one. Try and develop something on it.

Say you were just not knowing about them. The case will be filed but you will eventually get this into your side if you have it developed.

If still you can't figure it out then ask some pro domainer and he will advice you more on this.

Some domainers have thier own layers for this kind of situations. They take in trademark issue domais and then sell it at high prices.

I just wanted to add that I was using SRSPlus for domain names ($7 per domain). I recently registered my first domain for $5.99 fromm 1and1.com. This price includes private registration which SRSPlus charged extra. Just thought I would share this finding.
