Question About Redirects

Due to problems I had a while back with a site being banned by Google, I finally gave up on getting it back in and started a new site. I got a lot of links to the new site. (no where near the amount of the older site, but a lot considering the time frame) Of course, after putting a lot of money into the new site, I was able to get everything squared away with the old site and Google. So, it is back listed and everything is fine with it again now, back the same as before. So, here's my question... Is there any disadvantage of doing a 301 redirect from the new domain back to the old? The title of the old page is slightly different than that of the new (the new had an additional key phrase in it (DVD Burning), and the page text had more for DVD burning too. So what do you all think? I believe that if I do the redirect, the links that were pointing to the new site will then change over as credit on the old site, which would be a good thing, I think, since the old site is well established, and could do nothing but help there, I think. I'm interested to know, though, if there are any "gotchas" or any considerations at all I should keep in mind in making this decision. Thanks in advance for feedback on the matter.
