1st i'll tell you how my site is layed out on the server and what im finding. I have a redirect via my .htaccess file which forwards www.mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com/mysite i have my CMS installed under another folder cause i can't install it under the public_html folder so it is in public_html/mysite. I have a forum installed in public_html/forum which i have pointing to a subdomain of forums.mysite.com my server header returns a 301 for the redirect which is ok BUT im finding with MSNbot that it likes my forum more then my main site. So most search queries are pulling up things out of the forum 1st and the main site is either not listed at all in most cases or it is under 6 other forum results. I don't know why its happening but I just would like to know if i did something wrong because i can move my home dir /mysite so I don't have to do a perm redirect, but i'd like to know if im wrong or right so i can get this moved and fix my site before it gets to big.
MSN loves UPDATED sites - Forum tend to get frequent updats with every single posts. This should be the reason relating to MSN listing your forum prominently and not your main site. I don't think redirect cause any problem here.
well that make it even werider then, because my forums are dead right now, this is a very new site and the only freq updated content is on the main.
i just searched MSN for mysite.com and it picked up 3 pages of forum items...anything and everything from the FAQ to a 4 month old post. Its scared of my main site for some reason! :-(
