Hi everyone, 2 years ago i had a website up on web design and SEO, I wrote a lot of guides etc that i would like to reuse on my new site. The Old site has been offline since Jan 2011. I know that duplicate content can get you negative points in googles eyes, but the content is no longer online except for on the wayback machine. Can i use this content again now without any trouble ? Thanks in advance for your answers, Best Regards Tommy ----------------------------- Edit: Thinking about this more, could i use that site as a source of content that would no longer be on the net? content that maybe i did not write.
I suspect the answer here is that i can, but if anyone has had any experence doing this or spotted any problems, please let me know.
Since your site is "offline" i.e. not crawled by Google in the recent years and if you are intending to re-launch it anytime soon then I don't see any harm in re-using the content.
If the content is not indexed it's not considered to be published online and would be considered unique.
If the content is offline for such a long time, I guess it must be out of google index now, so you can use it without any prejudices.
Change the content up a bit and you're fine, for now. I've used content from old sites because WBM only showed up like the first sentence and generated a lot of traffic from excellent old posts.
