Question about pr rankings

Im new to the world of pr rankings.
So why would one buy a link for one month?
I have heard that if the high pr site that you have your link on is gone, or your link is removed, your pr will drop on the next update?

Is this the case, and if so, what is the point in buying these pr month?

I didnt know what category to post this, so I hope it is the correct one.

First, Google updates the PR all the time, you just can't see it.
And yes, people are buying and selling links on a monthly basis (this doesn't mean that you only buy the link for one month).
There is no correct answer to your question. Why do you buy toilet paper once a month instead of once a year? You know you are gonna need it.

Personally I would stay away from paid links - except perhaps maintaining annual subscriptions to your leading industry directory.

Searching around this forum and others, you will find a variety of opinions on buying text links for the purpose of PR building both for and against. I think the majority will tell you to stay away from paid links. Google clearly states that buying or selling links for the purpose of manipulating PR is violating their TOS. If you don't care how Google ranks you, then go ahead.

Personally, I don't worry about PR... I worry about traffic instead. Most online consumers aren't that clued in to know what PR might be associated with your web pages. For those who do understand PR, they should know well enough that it should not effect their buying decision.

I'd stay away from paid links. Google is not dumb. Paid links could end up hurting you. Why not just learn how to do everything yourself?

    I agree!
Every manipulative attempts to increase search engine visability is a non-ethical SEO and should be avoided.

Focus on high quality links and longtail traffic.
