question about post length

When I submit a new post/article to my blog should I display the whole article on the main page or should I have it broken off part way through so the readers will have to click something like a "read more" button to get to the rest of the article?

    Thanks

You`d better post the whole article. If the readers are interested they will read it anyway.

Alright, an answer from each side of the camp here.

Is it more a matter of personal preference than anything?

Every one do so, initial content of the article should be visible at front page and rest up to the next page .

I have found that putting the whole post on the front page works better (and definetely include the whole post for feeds). It is a matter of opinion to an extent though...

Ahh thanks for the feed suggestion. That was going to be my next question.

    Cheers!

A full feed is a must and on the home page, I would suggest you to use partial text. SEO wise, it cuts down the possibility of duplicates in your internal pages such as categories, tags, and old entries pages.

Having your home page marked as a duplicate by search engines is disastrous.

Hey, I put a read more button after 2 paragraphs and adsense after the first one. Example: AnotherPointlessBlog.com

    :D

    Cheers,
    Matt.

I like the idea of the ads after a couple of paragraphs. Is this better than having one big header with the ads at the top? Is it ok to leave the big header at the top and have ads after the second paragraph of a post? Is it too much ads?

    Thanks
