Hello everyone, new poster to the forum, but I've been a browser for some time. I'd like to ask some opinions about an Adsense position, and whether it could be considered a violation or not. I'm aware about 3 Ads, one search, one link unit maximum per page and such, but I'm questioning a potential method which I'd like opinions on. Can an individual place a horizontal link unit, above or below a navigation bar? Obviously it would still display "Ads by Google", but they would consist of relatively the same visual character type, and reside within a same color scheme block. For Example: Ads By Google Dog Training Dog Breeding Dog Feeding Dog Tricks Dog Food Dog Houses Dog Shelters <--- This is the uncalled out site navigation menu. I've tried to search around for this answer without luck. I understand that pull down menus would be a no in this situation because they could overlap Adsense ADs, but I'm talking straight link navigation. Ironically, Adsense is all about deception to increase traffic (as much as we might hate to admit that else we wouldn't do it). We change our color schemes to blend in, we hide ads here and there to produce money, but does placing a link ad above or below a navigator bar take that a bit too far? I've attempted it once with great results. The problem was that I was unaware whether it was allowed or not, and now I'd like to confirm whether it's allowed or not before I proceed in my endeavors. I just want to fly straight going forward, and to do that, I think I need to confirm this questionable ad position. Thank you for any opinions.
it used to be 3 ad units + 1 serach box + 3 link units, no? yes you can, if google reviews your ad placement and find it too confusing, they will send you a note to change it
Excellent, thank you for that confirmation. I was also unaware that you were allowed up to 3 link units, so that will be even more helpful.
I see it all the time. Link Units require 2 clicks to get paid so they are not as effective as properly placed targeted ads.
