I was wondering after seeing an article on photography if this is actually legal. Not only in the States but in Canada too?

Heres a link to the article if you want to see it all.

Depends on the laws of the specific country..

In most countries you can take pictures of whatever you want - for private use, except of things like military buildings, .. also from people, as long as you're on public road.

Publishing a picture however is restricted in a lot of countries.. in mine (Belgium) you need explicit permission of anyone who can be identified in a picture, if you want to publish it. Even schools need permission of all parents if they want to put pictures of the kids at school on their website..

Check photography forums (like fredmiranda.com), they often have topics about problems photographers had..
