Question about Paypal and cc backup

I have a question when having a cc verified on your account. It is my understanding that if I dont have enough funds in my account for a purchase it will withdraw it from my cc attached to the account is this correct?

Also, if this is true how long does that process normally take? I ask because I may be interested purchasing something in the future from the Buy, Sell or Trade section of this forum. If the process is to long I assume it wouldn't be a good method of payment from within the forum because I would hate if it they had to wait a long time for payment. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Paypal will withdraw money from your bank account as long as you authorize them to do so.
Paypal is not a bank but a service between sellers and buyers.

If your card is a debit card (still visa or master card in most cases but still not a credit card) then the paypal will withdraw only the amount of money available in your account.

for instance if you are going to buy a service for 1000 euro but you have less than 1000 euro in your bank account, the process will not complete unlike credit cards.

sorry about my poor english but hope it helps.

I am curious specifically about my credit card.

I am in Canada so my debit card is neither Visa nor Master card its just associated with the bank

Usually you can choose the funding options as well as a backup option. The payment is almost immediately credited into the sellers account. As with most credit card transactions it depends on how long it takes to hit your account but it usually is committed to the purchase and later authorized and deducted from your account based upon when the credit card transaction is pushed through. Only problems I have had with paying via cc are account restrictions on the seller side and them having to upgrade to a higher status paypal account.

Thank you for the information. So long as it goes into the sellers account right away I am not to concerned how long until it reflects on mine. I will be aware of the purchase so thats good enough for me.
