What program(s) do you use to find a websites Page Rank? I want to find higher PR sites to create my backlinks on, and was hoping somebody could share some tool names for me to research.
If you're using Firefox there are a number of plugins / addons that you can use to find the toolbar PR of a page. It may be worth reading why PageRank is useless though, first....
Thanks for the suggestion. I will look up Firefox Add-ons. I read your site, and it seems you are going against all the SEO suggestions I have heard so far. You start by saying that google considers links from high PR sites to be more important than from sites with a low PR. You then say that the PR is out of date, and thus doesn't matter. If you place a back link on a site with a High PR rating, and the PR drops, you still have a back link leading to your site. This adds up to free traffic in the end, even if its a small number of people. Right?
@Teravel - PageRank is a very misunderstood concept. It still matters.... It's just not the only thing that matters. Here's what Google's official statement is about PageRank: "We use more than 200 signals, including our patented PageRankâ„¢ algorithm, to examine the entire link structure of the web and determine which pages are most important. We then conduct hypertext-matching analysis to determine which pages are relevant to the specific search being conducted. By combining overall importance and query-specific relevance, we're able to put the most relevant and reliable results first." You can read more about Google's ranking factors and PageRank straight from the horses mouth here: http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html
When you install the Google Toolbar on your IE I think it also gives you the PR. Alternatively, there are PR checking sites on the internet as well.
Hi, Teravel I would like to recommend seo4firefox add-on to be used on Firefox for this purpose. It would shows every PR for you in your search result pages. All the best,
