I'm new to the forums, and this is my first thread/post. I've tried using this forum and google to get a straightforward answer before making this thread. I'm about to launch a webcomic site which uses .php to display and navigate through the comics. The URL www.webcomic.com leads to display the latest comic uploaded (the php code picks out the images with the biggest number eg.001<003), and when clicked on the 'next' or 'previous' comic buttons, the URL turns to '/index.php?p=1' etc. My question is if this is a disadvantage when it comes to optimizing for google (and others)? I'd like to know if there are any special steps involved in optimizing php sites. Also, since there's no <a href> or <alt> tags for the images, will the image names be picked up by google? I also created an XML sitemap to submit to google using one of the free online services. Although, the XML file picked up about 200 or so links in the site (my site has only about 6 other html pages apart from the homepage), I can't figure out if this is good or bad and if I should edit the file to include only the 7 or 8 links. Also, I'd be greatful if someone could roughly explain to me how listings like this are achieved Is this just a mixture of meta tags and sitemap submissions? Many thanks for reading the post. nothingman
Once Google decides that your website is big enough and have authority with a good sitemap. Anyway, that's how I acheieved mine.
So just wait till Google decides that you've got enough visitors to display your sitemap and meta description in it's search results?
