Hi, I already posted this question in another thread, but because of the lack of response, I try again in this one. I’m the webmaster of a website in Belgium that covers popular books (SF, Thrillers and Fantasy : http://www.boekensite.net ) I know that many collectors are visiting my site to find the scans of the book covers I discuss, and, as I’m a collector too, I often visit foreign sites to see how a particular book cover looks like in other countries. At this moment, I’m wondering if it would be useful to translate the whole site into English, but seeing the amount of work this represent, I ask you : Would you be interested in such a website ? You can already find some translated pages on : http://www.boekensite.net/indexe.html So I'm surely interested in a review but also that you tell me what you think about the idea of translating the whole site… thanks in advance
Well, at least, I want to thank the 3 people who visited and vote for my site. I can't say the replies were overwhelming but at least those 3 found it interesting. I'm still interested in other people's review and opinion so...go for it and tell me what you think about my site.
The background texture, red and gold color theme of your site is amazing. The blend of adsense ads superb. The website theme is intresting. All the best with Those translations. P.S: At initial loading your site is showing full Red background. Do something to remove red at initial loading only.
Hey thanks for taking the time to reply. And of course for the positive feedback I never noticed the problem of the red background...will have to investigate this.
Hello, in general the site looks ok. However I would 'air' it out a little. What I mean by this is it looks a bit too text dense. Guess I shouldn't be suprised as it is a site about books, but having things spread out a bit more would make the site more visually appealing. And yes, translating into english will drive up your traffic ALOT.
The site is Very interesting, because the content is unique and personal. Try to improve the design, it has a lot of potential. Also if you are aiming for english readers, try to affiliate with amazon and add a direct link so the people can buy the books you are reviewing.
Just joined Amazon Affiliates. Thanks for the suggestion. Also thanks to the other people for their constructive feedback.
The site is great and is actually both interesting and useful. the url makes it a bit hard to remember for a typed in visitor so you'll have to rely on search engine traffic and links I think its worth the effort
You are completely right at that point. But as I started this website for a Dutch audience (I started seeing it small ) the url was really easy to remember and particularly meaningfull. Apart of that, I think it is very hard to find a good domainname (an easy to remember) when you are working in different languages. But that's another discussion.
Yeah I knew what you mean as I understand Dutch Afrikkans a little and also speak read and write 5 others - yes its hard to accomadate all but the is a way - just change the url to http://www.boekensite.net/english.html or get an easy english name and re-direct to the Dutch site
The idea of multilingual site is always good, as it enlarges the global scope of your sites, therefore you will get a bigger audience.
