You can run it from home if you are using it for your own work..

It really depend what you are using the server for actually..

Shouldn't be a problem with static or dynamic ip.. as long as your server is online, you are fine with hosting your own site at home.

Check out dydns.com or no-ip.com for a solution where you get a hostname that follows your changing dynamic ip. Makes it easier to use a server at home.

It shouldn't be a problem, but i can tell you that you should check with your ISP to see if they actually allow you to use your account in that way.

That and make sure as some ISPs block specific ports such as 80 for HTTP and SMTP ports.

Check your TOS with your ISP. They can shut you down for breaking their TOS. I am sure your ISP account is valuable to you.

If they allow hosting of web content then yes..look into a dynamic DNS solution. You can then work on the hard part of setting up a web server in-house and running it.

What connection speed do you have? Because most places around where I live would not be able to sucesfully host anything tbh...

    Hey,
Thanks for all the comments, i will certainly check with my ISP to make sure i am able to run my own server, if not i might change to a place where i can.
The main reason i want to run one is basically to gain knowledge how to set up and maintain my own server! :)
