Ok, I am new to the internet business deal and was curious how to get paid off of it. Lets say for example I have a site that lets people show off their pictures of gifts baskets. The site gets 100,000 hits a day (Just an example) I do not charge a fee to use the site everything is 100% free I do not sale anything either. How do I make money, and what could be expected with those numbers? I have seen the prices several sites have already sold for youtube myspace etc and want to know why they sold for that much change? How does a website get valued at 100million dollars, and what makes the worth that much if it is a free site? I do not have a site anything like these but was just curious.
what is a decent amount of money to be expected monthly from creating popular websites I know every website cannot be popular but my wheels are spinning and I am curious.
I would add some affiliate links to products related to site and maybe adsense ads. Amount you make depends on products and ads on site and traffic. No one can guess what a site will make.
I'd try getting a affiliate product on there and test it out first , also you can add some cpm ads if u can get 100k hits a day.

Some of the sites are getting huge valuations because of their massive user base and traffic. Prior to investing, big corporations have teams of investment bankers poring over documents to come to a "guesstimation" of what a site is worth. After acquiring said site with shareholder money, they then try to come up with a plan to monetize the traffic and user base.
Your best bet would be to add some ads-especially cpm ads. These type of websites you are mentioning can only get revenue by advertising. To go even further, you can code your site and add a members only area (you can sell memberships) or sell fautured listings etc. Just visit some similar sites and get an idea...
