I want to ask where/how a person can store an ebook so that someone can just go there and download it. Please tell me which forum to pose this question. Thank you.
You have to upload the ebook to your hosting first. Then you need to link the ebook files to the download page.
Have you done this yourself and can you tell me which sites/programs you used? I signed up with 4shared.com.
I have multiple ebooks and digital products available for download. I use a free FTP program called Filezilla to upload the products to my server. My host is Omnis.com...they are inexpensive and offer 300 gigabytes of storage and good support. Just use this code as a referral code: 55qe5l1 I don't know if you can get a direct link to give to others from the free service that you signed up for. If you can and this is the only ebook you want to make available, then all you would need to do is to upload the product. If you are serious about working on the internet, I would get a full service host. If you need further info on how to FTP- go to google video and search for "How to FTP" I have a video there that demonstrates the process using filezilla. It's the fourth one listed on Aug 16, 2006. Hope this helps, MRRB
Keep in mind a few things with having the file available for download... 1) If it's something for sale, then you'll want to look at ways of protecting the location of your file from others 2) You're best off having your own web hosting space to upload the file ... easiest for you to keep track of (in comparison to some of the free hosting services) for downloads and ease of changing/updating the file without changing the www link (or, conversely, changing the link if necessary). You can then also use your own domain name (better for future sales). There are other issues too (eg, file format of your ebook) -- but that's not about hosting/online storage for distribution your file.
I've written a simple ebook on how to make ebooks available. It's free, but I don't plan on releasing it yet. If you want a sneak peak, PM me and I'd be glad to send you a draft.
