Can anyone please help me a little? I'm trying to do keyword research first time Is product worth promoting if keyword has Global Monthly Search Volume 9,900 and Local Search Volume: January 6,600 If I google the keyword I get: 207,000 results and using inurl I get 4,300 Thank you
No, the keyword has a high search volume, but too many words are optimized for the keyword. I would choose a keyword that gets at leat 1000 searches per month, with less than 100 pages optimized for it. Use allintitle:"" to see how many pages are optimized/targeting that keyword.
I actually would give it a go - the thing is about keyword research is you will not know if a certain keyword converts until you get out there and start promoting. I actually do it if there is less than 5000 optimized sites for it, although if it is a good keyword I might try more. Or you can try and narrow down on it a little more and go for the more long tail phrases. Chris
Okay thanks, another thing I wanted to ask would it be better to use a domain or could I do well with squidoo/hubpages/blogspot... ? Is anybody here who is using free methods only ?
When I first started out, I relied on blogspot blogs and I still have a few which bring in a nice amount each month. If you are strapped for cash, I would go that route, especially if you are doing affiliate marketing. Hubpages doesn't allow affiliate links, and Squidoo seems to be getting more strict about this, so that would still be my choice. That said, there are some who make some nice money from squidoo lenses. Just be aware that with any of these sites, you always run the risk of all your work disappearing overnight if the site decides to take your page down. For that reason, you might want to consider purchasing a cheap .99 cents .info domain instead of going the free route.
You can go for either squidoo or blogspot. It'll be easier to rank a squidoo than your own domain. btw, you can also use goarticles.com or articlesbase.com as a kind of landing page with your affiliate link. Then you can start building links to it.
