Question about keyword copyright such as FaceBook

    Hello guys...

    I have a question about copyright..

    If for example i own the domain mylibary.net and someone own the domain mylibary.com

    How can i copyright the word mylibary so no one can use this word?

    How much that cost?

    the beer monster summed it up correctly. trademarking, while not that expensive, can still get costly if you want multiple classes, and jurisdictions.

    Golly, such a lovely idea. Use the .net because someone else already has the .com and then try to figure out a way to steal the name from the people who were using it first. While I fully recognize that you wouldn't be the first to do so, it still stinks just the same.

    In general, a trademark does not give you exclusive rights to a mark, it gives you rights to a particular usage. Trademark litigation costs tens of thousands of dollars and up. Even if you had a case, it would be far cheaper to buy the domain from the .com holder. If they just parked the domain, there is really nothing you can do since they owned the domain before you.

    My sentiments entirely - theft may sometimes be legal, but it is still theft! Do what YMC & mjewel recommend - save the litigation cost!
