I am using wordpress and never tried any other cms. I am now planning to use Joomla as my cms and I just want to ask if there are any free templates and plugins for Joomla? and is Joomla a opensource cms? Thanks!

JoomlaShack has some nice free templates. I use Joomla and WordPress the only thing I don't care for about Joomla is that you have to use 3rd party plugins for commenting and none of them are nearly as clean and easy as WordPress.
