question about joining

    I have some existing web sites that I can put on the ad network, but nothing I have right now really needs a boost in PR or in inbound traffic. I do have several projects that I am working on though that I would like to have boosted soon after the time of release.

    Is it possible to join, earn some credit, and then later use that credit for links to my new sites?

    Yes... You can run ads for sites you don't run ads on. The ad network is not for PageRank BTW, and you most likely won't gain any.
