Let's say I have a site that sells computer parts for a variety of different brands and I want to have a high ratio of internal links pointing to the various pages. I have a global navigation that has a link to each of the various parts (with keyworded anchor text). Next, on the bottom of the page, I have links to each BRAND of computer that I sell parts for. Each of those links are using the appropriate keyworded anchor text as well. Once each of those links are clicked, you are taken to a page that lists the specific Brands model, i.e. Dell XPS 700, Dell XPS 210, etc. Once you click the Dell XPS 700 link, you find a page filled with links that have anchor text such as Dell XPS 700 hard drive, Dell XPS 700 processor, etc. Finally, now to my question, I have many products and brands that I sell for, I am concerned that the pages will look like link farms or will get penalized by Google because of thier reccomendation that you have no more than 100 links on a page ( here) A customer can find the part that he needs via either the navigation links directly to the parts, and then browse by brand, then by model. OR the customer can find the part via the brand, then select the model, then the part. The final option available is to enter the part, brand, and model in a search box on the site. What I am hoping to find out is what is the BEST way to optimize these links for SEO without being penalized as being "spammy" or a link farm??
internal links won't hurt you, i read somewhere else on seo that in fact they help you, one of my sites has 239 links on one page and all these are outbound, but those 239 links gave me a pr5 which i have had for the past 4 months, so no complaints here. lots of sites have these links, you need to realise, the more you can optimise them though the better, ie. your anchor text etc.
