Question about infraction

I'm not complaining here but would like to fully understand better...

I posted in the cheap section to alert DP members of my Fiverr account, where everything listed there is $5, including things I wouldn't normally post on DP, so thought it would be good to put it out there for people here. I used a custom in house URL shortening and tracking system from mnstr.ca and one of my Fiverr gigs offers a full month of service for $5 for a business associates' business, Cloud Pixies a provider of cloud storage and backup servers. We discussed this before posting it Dean and I, owner of CloudPixies.

Now I'm just wondering, did I get the infraction because I'm posting links to my fiverr gigs, for using the url shortener, or because CloudPixies is not owned by me and is one of my fiverr gigs, or is there something else here? Or does it just all fall under, only being allowed to post links to websites you own? I Just thought I would ask this time since I didn't fully understand this one. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your time.
    Thanks.

To be honest, it's could have been any ONE of the issues you mentioned. Masked linked aren't allowed simply because we were getting flooded with people hiding their affiliate links with them.

But even if the link themselves weren't masked, you are posting something that isn't for sale HERE. Buy/Sell/Trade is for stuff you are selling here, it's not a directory of links to things people are selling elsewhere. There is this sticky in the Sites section since that's where it's most prevalent, but the rules apply everywhere. A good rule of thumb is that if a user has to go to some other site to bid on or purchase something, it's probably an advertisement for the page they need to go to, and not actually selling whatever it is in the thread here.

Assuming neither of those two issues applied, if ultimately you are selling accounts... it's also not allowed.

For me just skimming it, I'd say the biggest issue is that you aren't actually selling something here, instead it's an advertisement for a page/site where you are actually selling something. But the rest still applies too.

Promoting something has nothing to do with Buy/Sell/Trade. If you are posting something in Buy/Sell/Trade you need to be selling (or buying) whatever it is.

If you want to hire someone to promote your product via their signature or something, it's fine.

Hiring someone to post something in Buy/Sell/Trade that they aren't actually selling wouldn't be allowed though.

Yeah the URL shortening service was only needed for the fiverr page due to their character limits, no affiliate links of course. Selling accounts what? I own my own sites people can register on and will never condone the selling of accounts anywhere that isn't specifically intended for that purpose...if there is such a thing...

I guess I let that one slip through my radar though, I've seen so many people putting up threads selling something where you have to go off DP to buy it, it just seemed normal. I don't usually spend much time in the sites section, I'll go read that sticky. :)

    Thanks very much Shawn!
