Hi, I have 2 questions about gravity. 1) Can gravity decrease? I mean when it attains a certain point for a product, say 300, can it go below 300 for any reason (like not making any sales, etc)? 2) Is gravity counted for refund also? I mean if a sale got the gravity increased and then if the customer asks and gets a refund, should the gravity then be decreased to the previous number?
I'm not sure about question #2 but for question #1 the answer is YES. Gravity is a measure of affiliates who have made a sale in the last 12 weeks. So gravity can go up or down depending on the affiliate sales.
In answer to number 2 I think the gravity point doesn't disspaear if you get a refund, not sure actually. But gravity is only 8 weeks rather than 12 - so one day one an affiliate makes a sale and you get 1 point of gravity for it - it slowly errodes over 8 weeks, so after 4 weeks that point is only worth 0.5. If at any time that affiliate makes another sale then the value goes back up to 1 - only ever 1, you cant get more than one point of gravity from the same affiliate at any one time
Yep, the gravity can fluctuate a lot, I've seen products with a gravity of almost 300 or 600 go way the way down to 200 of even less (will not name the products) but there are quite a few that have been going down the drain (some due to the economical crisis I suppose, some products are seasonal etc).. I don't think refunds reflect upon gravity.. Just an overview over gravity -- It is a factor that only shows you how many affiliates have made at least one sale (however never get tricked into thinking that a high gravity means profit) Some product are largely advertised via PTC sites/ Email Spam / Auto-surf programs etc.. and they might have a high gravity but their conversions are very low, sometimes 1 : 2000 hops. This is directly from Clickbank: Grav: Short for Gravity, this number represents a unique calculation by ClickBank that takes into account the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 12 weeks.
Oh damn, I'm wrong again! Damn, well, I'm going to scramble for credibility with the question - "did this change recently?"
