It seems that the Google AdWords Keyword Tool has changed something regarding the search volume. Everything I search... from "games" to "press releases" the volumes have dropped about 50%. Anyone know why?
I am not sure because I have never met such a problem. I advise you to clean all your data with your browser and then visit Google Keyword Tool again.
I don't see where those options are. I always use the tool the same way, now all the sudden the search volume for global and local are lowered by about 50%.
Okay for example the key phrase "press releases" had a local volume of 135,000 last week, and now has 74,000. Every keyword I check has lowered. Let me just say this is the first time in years I have seen such a dramatic change.
Maybe less people searched "press releases" in August than in July? Check the performance by month (it's one of the options).
Please see my original post. "Everything I search... from "games" to "press releases" the volumes have dropped about 50%. Anyone know why?"
OMG. I just checked many of my keywords and they have dropped more than 80%. A Keyword which had 'exact' searches amounting to 345k, now has just 78k searches. Has to be a glitch or something. Thanks for reporting this xeastx. Cannot be September's updated stats as this is way too low.
I just did an adwords search on "press releases" as you showed above. The results I get are: 246 000 - Broad 201 000 - Phrase 18 100 - Exact "press release" however has 74 000 exact and 1 220 000 broad. All in global. Which are you looking at, exact, broad or phrase and is this the exact keyword you used ?
Also want to add I am getting different numbers using the old version and new version of Adwords. In the new version I get the following numbers instead: press releases: 135 000 - Broad 8 100 - Exact
