Like many others (I assume) lots of my search engine traffic comes from google image searches. While Google manages to pull images from my site with accuracy and in direct relevance with the term being searched, I noticed that they constantly get my refer urls wrong. In refer url I mean the page that includes the image that's in their results. This url usually appears as a parameter called "imgrefurl" in the google string. So my first question is if anybody has experienced a similar problem. Also, does anybody have any input or resources on how to optimize images for image searches? This is a subset of SEO that doesn't get documented a whole lot. Results seem to be based on the immediate textual content before and after the image in the HTML - and especially the href since it's always in close proximity to the img src tag. Thanks for reading! I hope you can share some insights.
