Question about google and link quality

    This is a hypothetical scenario.

Lets say i create a wordpress blog for example mykeyword.wordpress.com

And then I go and find 4-5 articles on my topic and post them on the blog .. and then I want to link them to my site using my keywords or even put my URL in the blogroll.

    How does google view this?

I know this would be viewed at as bad if you copied content on your own site but what if you used wordpress or squidoo and then linked it using anchor texts or blogroll to your own site that is related and similar ..

    Thanks

There would be several problems I imagine, the most obvious of which would be duplicate content. I don't think this would give you much benefit, but you have nothing to lose by giving it a go... with Google, experimentation is the only way :)

Duplicate content would be the issue if you published the same article on your main site that you are trying to rank.

If however you are talking about have 6 sites, (5 blogs with a different "copied" article on and 1 main site that is seperate with unique content on), then the duplication issue would only be on the 5 blogs (which does not matter as you are not trying to rank them); therefore linking subtley from these blog posts to your site, should in theory provide you with 5 backlinks

Like Wayner says, experimentation is the only way to find out - the most you can lose is a domain name!

I already tried that with both wordpress and blogspot blogs..
Believe me, it worked. And suddenly I was penalized for link spamming.

In that case, you have already answered your own question?

How long does it take for a link spamming penalty to be lifted and what do you have to do to get it lifted

    "How does google view this?"

I think google will consider this bad SEO practice. Try to submit articles to article directories.

If the articles in question have already been published elsewhere you should not do this, it is a waste of time and may hurt you. I accidentally did something similar recently. I posted a blog with copied text (although I cited my sources I didn't format it in such as way as to let Google know I was using it as a quote). My original post did not show up at all. After reformatting and rewriting the post I am now ranking very well.

At the end of the day does the blog you create provide value? If not then even if it helps in the short term, ultimately it is doomed to fail and be a waste of your time.

I can see what you may say about spammy but it wouldnt be spammy if say you just had 5-6 COPIED DUPLICATE articles on wordpress or squidoo .. and then just a single link in the blogroll with your link on it ..

I could see if you tried to put your link in every post or article that you copied .. any other opinions?
