question about giving vb acount to others

Hi,

I have permanent vb account.I have vb3.8 with 8 years history.I don`t know any thing about technical vb issues. I need many things to do .

I am thinking about hiring someone for doing them.as you know I have to submit my vb account to him. I worry about the submitting causes some problems for me . what do you think ?

You shouldnt have to give anyone your vb account info? you can just prodive him with the files to setup if thats what he is doing.

If he is sorting out your forum then, make him an admin on it with limit permissions, i hope this helps.

My vb is 3.8 .I want to upgarde it to 5. doesn`t it needs to give him Customer Number and Customer Password of vb for downloading the files?

No you wouldnt have to give him those details, you should be able to just download the files, then send them to him.

I need many things to do other than upgrading.I don`t know which level of administration should I give him.
also I worry about 80k email addresses that maybe he takes them for selling or sending spams...

My advice is find a company that would do it instead of an individual if you feel your users and forums would be a risk.

Never give anyone anything more than user access to the forum unless you trust him completely and make him sign an agreement that guarantees you things like non-disclosure and that he won't use the knowledge you give him for anything other than doing the work he's being hired for (which you spell out in the agreement). And make sure he lives in your legal jurisdiction, so if you have to sue him, you don't have to travel halfway around the world.

Or spend a little time to learn how to do it yourself. You know you can trust yourself.

I am very busy in my life and don`t have time for learning technical vb issues.I have to have other one for it.
at now someone have administory access .he wants to put his banner on my forum for technical assistance .he sells books.I accepted for bottom position one banner as 730X100.he is now evaluating his clicks from my users.
if he agrees I will want him enough guarantees as you said.
