I established a web site about 2 weeks ago. I have been adding back links to my page,( i now have about 30)and exchanging links with my friends. At the moment I am not getting any traffic to my page. I submitted my url to google but its only been like a week so its not on the serach engine yet. Will the traffic eventually grow as my url gets listed on the google serach engine?Thank you for your time, and if you would explain to me how you guys got more traffic to your page, please share if you dont mind.

It is always useful using the social networking. If you do that, then all search engines will find and index your website much faster than you can imagine. It takes just few hours. Submit your pages to the social networking websites such as LotText - Propeller - Digg. If you do that, then Google´s Crawlers will be there on your site after few hours.

You must be joking! Just two weeks and you're wondering why you aren't getting visitors? Sure, Google et al may add you to their indexes this quickly, but attracting/encouraging people to your site is a whole different ballgame.
For a start, what's your site about and what keywords/phrases will searchers use before it will turn up in the SERPs? And who are your competitors and how many of them exist and how long have their sites existed?
SEO isn't only not for the fainthearted. It's also for people who are prepared to be patient, persistent, and able to deal with the realities. Regardless of your keywords, you're likely to be no more than one of several hundred/thousand/million choices. Why on earth would you think people are sitting there waiting for you to tell them how good you are?
Give it two months -- or even two years -- before worrying about your web presence.

It takes lot more than 2 weeks, normally. It takes some time even after your pages get indexed. Meanwhile, I suggest to you to build link consistently.

I have been advertising my website for two weeks. The search engines visit some part of my website every couple of hours. I have just about all of my pages indexed. If you want traffic, be active on the web and do what the others suggested.

However, getting search engines to notice you, and getting people to want to be on your site are two very different things. If you don't have good content, then your new visitors won't stick around.

Here are some backlink source you can do:

Blogging (sure way to gain BL!)
Forum posting (make sure it is a related one!)
Directory submission (it take long time to be approved; but remember that patience is virtue)

Starts with social networking and social bookmarking your site. You got to introduce your site with good topics.
