Question about general websites vs. CMS

    I've only used CMS's like Joomla and Wordpress. If I want to update content there, I just type it into a place and press enter that's it.
    If I am Not using a CMS system and I buy a template that is fully coded, how would I upload content on the site? Do I have to manually upload each page through FTP?

    Depends on the template. Might have a CMS in the template.

    you'll have to edit and upload it through FTP if its html (most templates are html/css)
    unless it has a backend coded in...in which it'll probably be a cms then =)
