So we all know G love fresh, updated and unique content. My question is what part of the site has to be fresh and updated? Does it matter? Lets say my site is www.site.com and I add a blog to it www.site.com/blog and i update that blog daily, is that considered fresh content & updated? The reason i'm asking is because I will eventually run out of topics for my site but I would still like it updated so G keeps my rankings up there. Thanks! :)

The pages where you have fresh content will get updated more often in the search engine. It does not matter which page you add new content.

I know if a site never gets updated the site becomes stale, so if I add a blog will that overall help maintain its rankings for the entire site and will G see the overall site as being constantly updated?

Your extra pages won't effect the overall site position but the more pages you have, the more pages google will index + the more chance you have that search engine users will find you.

So more pages is like fishing with a bigger net :)

if you do add the blog and keep it updated then site.com/blog will get more rank than site.com.

its ok you didn't add fresh content to your home page. but you can add a note about some threads in blogs in your home page (like recent threads)

Absolutely. You can add information about the latest blog posts on your home page. In that way, both your homepage as well as the blog will get updated content constantly.
