I have a question about a type of search result that I just came across that I had not noticed before. If you search for the term "car stereo" the #1 result is carstereo.com, but it also lists 4 other pages for car stereo indented and below the main result (tightly spaced). This is different from the usual indented page that I see if one site returns say 2 pages for a search. Can someone please explain how this site is returning this result?
It's quite possibly what google deems an 'authority' site for the search term. There's no published criteria for what google thinks 'authority' is (before you ask ).
Where is the anchor text coming from for the extra links to the site? They are not the page titles. Example: Box Calculators - http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm (Page title "Car Audio Help Guide" and page header "Box Design" This doesn't look like Google just picked up a couple more pages to display. Rather, it seems that someone was able to pick the link anchor text. Is this really because they are an authority site? If so, how was the link text generated? Thanks for your help.
I believe that Google like site url containing keywords. The number of backlinks is not too high to be an important factor.
Even i am surprised by this "Expanded Results " But we dont much info about this any where... Why Google is Not Clarifying this ?
If I search for "car audio system" the website shows up in the #1 position and has the same expanded results If I search for "high-end car audio" the website is still in the #1 position, but it does not show the expanded results. If I search for "car audio" the website is in the 4th position, without the expanded results. Does nobody have a better explanation for this? These expanded results are unlike anything I have noticed before and they are quite powerful when it comes to grabbing attention.
Nobody outside of google knows the answer to your questions. This the only 'official' reference I've seen to these results.
