i will be hosting some local events in my area. i'd like to have an event registration form that allows attendees to register similar to Meetup.com or Evite.com .

Basically, they RSVP as a yes,no, or mabye and be allowed to add comments hence the Meetup and Evite RSVP system reference.

The reason I can't use Evite is that you need people's email address to eblast them and I don't have people's email addy. These are events that are open to the public. Any recommendations for a free version that can meet my needs?

I really like this event form for the upcoming Wordcamp event sponsored by Wordpress; http://2006.wordcamp.org/

It has the fields that I want and explained. Also note that if you click on the 2nd radio button on the interests field, it will show a few more fields via a drop down menu.

I'm not sure if this is a plugin or if it's something that has to be created. If it's the latter, does anyone know how tough it would be to create it? I don't have much knowledge of php or mysql, assuming that is what is needed. thoughts?
