Seems like it was just registered yesterday. Whois may still be updating.

I have noticed that sometimes, when someone has tried to register a domain, but by some reason the process didnt go through, it can show this domain as registered on the site where this was done. Seems to be because the domain has been added in the shopping basket of the person who tried to register it, and thus is not available for others. However, it can still be registered at other sites as long the registration process wasnt completed.

So do you own the domain or not?

I've heard rumours that if you search for a domain name many times, the whois program can track it and they will try to register that domain name before you so you will have to buy it off them. I'm not sure if this is true though.

Check the domain every day for the next 5 days. Sometimes they will drop it within that timeframe. If not, time to start thinking of a new one.

I've heard this rumor before too, and I just don't think the logistics of it would make this theory plausible.

Moniker's domain name availability check is the most accurate one, and it's where I go if I want to make sure a name is available.

I usually go to the ICANN accredited registrar (of the domain) and use their whois to view if I am unsure. Other than that, I almost always use whois.sc.
