Question about domain names and keywords

    Anyone's help is appreciated.

    My question is this:

Lets say that I want to get a domain but the keyword and any "in the ball park" keywords for that domain are taken. Let's use handbags.com as an example. That keyword is taken. So, would creating a domain like eddieshandbags.com or handbags007.com help me in the search engines since I would have handbags in the name?

Any guidance would be appreciated from the great members here at DP.

    Thanks
    Eddie

    Hey Eddie,

Are you trying to rank for handbags in general? ( or the keyword your going after ) because from my experience having the keyword as the first word in you domain and First word in your page title is really beneficial. Dig deep you might be able to find a half descent domain name if you spend some time on it.

    Hey mate,
you can't go wrong with "keyword+slight modification.com". Like "handbagsmarket.com" if you wanna rank for "handbags". Make sure the keyword you are ranking for comes first though. From there on its the same old spiel, make sure to build some backlinks and have a go at on-site SEO.

A keyword in the URL will definitely help, whether it is in the beginning or in the end. Besides, it may help to catch users' attention as google highlights keywords in URLs. So if you can get a domain with your keyword, just take it.
