    Quick question.

There are many good domains out there that have a different country codes.

    Example.

    my-keyword.cl

    Now this is my question.

Will having a de, al, cl etc domain name will hurt se position.

    Example.

Will google think that computer-repair.de is a website from Germany and not show it in the US results.

Or will the SE's not care and simply use the site's html to determine if the site it's an american site.

    Please advice

    Thanks!

The results are usually based on the location of the server. If you put it on a US server, it'll show in the US SERPS

In my experience hosting a .co.uk on a US server causes it to rank better in the US results. Transferring it to UK hosting deindexes it from the .com results and it ranks well in the .co.uk results.
Having said that I'd still make the effort to get the local domain of the SERPS you want to rank in, I believ it's a cumulative affect with all of these factors counting,

    Location of server
    TLD extension
    Incoming links from countries/TLD extensions
