There are no age restriction as regards the submission requirements as long as the site offers quality content you have as good a chance as any other site.

however it must be alot of quality content not just a few blog posts it must appear that effort has been put into it and it should not have annoying ads. these are not written rules however they affect the decision of the moderator reviewing your site

Its not that hard, really. sites that offer original/unique content. it has nothing to do with the age, rankings ect

I once heard you should wait a few months for Google to pick your site up and then submit to DMOZ.

A link from DMOZ is no longer a highly prized vote.

And as internal politicking in the submission process continues, DMOZ editors don't care about when, how or what your site is all about.

    Forget DMOZ.

There's some truth to that, a great site that offers visitors with great content trumps all.

    Thats pure BS

Well, they keep saying it's mostly unique content not necessarily GOOD content ;) Also, site design, layout, and the like don't make it into consideration...and its painfully clear that DMOZ does not care about WHEN you get a listing or more editors would care about the submission queue...and in the case of some, they do NOT care what your site is about. Just ask a meta editor kind enough to rummage through an area they don't care about (and it does happen).

So it's not PURE BS ;)

So you agree with "DMOZ editors don't care about when, how or what your site is all about"
I know I visit most of the sites I submit. not only when I add them, but every time I have some free time.

    Most certainly....sometimes :D

Some Editalls have headed into areas they have no interest in to help clear the queue. I know this to be the case because I've had a few friends being editalls and have seen threads on it in internal forums. MOST likely care, as MOST likely edit in areas they do have an interest in, but that is not ALWAYS the case.

I'm not saying you are wrong, just saying you are not fully right ;)

Editors do what they enjoy doing. Sometimes that means clearing all of the updates in an area, resolving all the reds (problem urls) in an area, or working on all of the suggested sites in an area. We've all done that, and I can tell you from personal experience, that it's a brutal job, and even after an area is zeroed out, theres just no way to keep it that way.

It's just like a treadmill, a never ending task, and it's not long before an editor will burn out.

It's usually at that point that editors have to remind themselves that listing every site that gets suggested is not our primary goal, and that it really doesn't matter how many suggested sites there may be waiting for review.

Our goal is to build categories for information seekers, not acting as a listing service for site owners. None of you like that idea because it doesn't help your bottom line, but it's the truth.

We edit when, where, and as much as we want to because it's fun to do, not because we have to, it's a hobby, nothing more. Why do you think it's free? Because we do the work for free, that's why.

Who are we? Just ordinary people, men, women, kids, people with jobs, retired people, CEO's, self employed, business owners, website builders, a few SEO types, teachers, professors, all kinds of people from all over the world. Every single one of us could quit at any time we choose to. I've quit and come back 6-7 times myself, and been accepted back that many times.

Sometimes you just need a break from it, it wears on you, but then you get to missing it and the editors you worked with, and you wander back.

We may sympathize with you at times, and get disgusted with you at other times, but we do understand your frustrations. The problem is, we are not and never will be, what you want us to be, a listing service, it's not what we do.

The truth of the matter is that if Dmoz ever offered to pay us and become a real listing service, most of us would quit immediately. It's not what we signed up for, we have real jobs, we don't need another one.
