    Hi

    I have hired designer to design my site. Now so far hes designed it and on different resolutions the site has massive white stripes down each side of the site as the design doesn't cover the whole page. Now I think that as part of the design he should fix it and make sure it works on all reseloutions however he thinks the opposite.

    But I want to know what you guys as designers think?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Of course he should fix it so that it actually looks good. No question about that. If he's worth the money you paid him, he should have made sure that was taken care of in the first place. I think he just lost himself a customer.
    If it's a quick fix, I'll do it for free. ;)

    The gray area that doesn't extend all the way on the sides is what's bothering you? It literally takes like five seconds to correct that! That guy doesn't deserve to be paid anything. That's really horrible service. If it's an HTML design, you just need to put this in the body tag:

    bgcolor=#xxxxxx where xxxxxx is the color of the background.

    The site looks like garbage anyway, in my humble opinion. I'd hold out for a little bit and see if you can "starve him" into fixing those minor problems. If he doesn't, I'd just forget about it and hire someone respectful.

    I'm only a designer, not a coder, but isn't there something in the HTML that can stretch the BG all the way accross for any resolution? I thought there was.

    Either way, it's obvious the guy didn't spend too long on the design.. hope you didnt pay much.

    Good call, I completely forgot about that!

    This is the code for stretching an image:
    <img src="http://www.URL.com/image.nnn" width="#" height="#">

    That is the body background color. That is 100% a design flaw that he should fix.

    although your issue as a simple html one some designers just "design" with no knowledge of any programming language. but i must agree with everyone else.. the work he has done and the service he has provided is much less than satisfactory and if i had done that i wouldnt expect to be paid.

    I would understand if the guy was just a designer but as hes currently building a script for a paid to click site which he tried to get me to preorder so I would of guessed he can program.

    I have put in a PayPal dispute with the deposit I paid and have told him he is no longer required. I will be looking for a new designer and you will find my thread in the services forum

    Thanks for your reply
