I just tried google adwords for a 2nd time and have put a limit if $5 per day to test it out. Within a few hours the limit was reached with 4 clicks. How do I test this better while not spending too much per day in case I don't get good results to reduce the potential loss? Last time I used adwords it ended up coting me more than the sales it was returning and I'd like to prevent this from happening again. Thanks
If you are absorbing your whole budget in a few hours and 4 clicks, chances are that you've set your bids too high. Also, set your keywords to exact match so Google doesn't play liberties with your account.
5$ per day is a very low budget. what is the experiment goal? if you lower your bid it doesnt mean that your cpc will go down as well if your bid is too low and your average position drops - your CTR will drop as well and there is a chance you will be paying more for a click. this is especially true if your QS is low..
Save up a little bit to put it towards a real test campaign. A $5/day campaign will take you a really long time to get decent results. Make your daily budget a little more than what you're actually willing to spend. Also, if you're tight on a budget, aim for longer-tail/specific keywords that are cheaper. YOUR goal with PPC is to TEST and FIND the right keywords that convert on a continuous basis. It also involves ALWAYS testing your landing page(s). To further lower your CPC, make super targeted ad groups (no more than 10 kws per ad group), ads and a relevant landing page for each ad group.
If you are using Heavy traffic product for testing definitely $5 is nothing, use product with low search for testing so you can make a judgment. also increase daily budget a little more.
Hi, if you don't mind, please check out some of things following: + your bidding keywords. $5=4clicks is too expensive. I think you may have a problem in (1) match type: unsuitable match type will show your ads unexpectedly and make it low CTR result -> your bid will be automatic raised. (2) your chosen keywords: may be those keywords' re so hot with high competitive rank and you have to raise your bid, in this case, please choose other replacements. + your ads: it can be unattractive or unexpected ads and searchers don't pay attention to these ads -> your keywords relating to these ads are affected and bid come up. + your products: if your products are usually searched, I think that is the matter of daily spending, you should up your budget.
What is "longer tail"? How much should my budget per day be? Also how do I improve my websites to convert more clicks into sales? I just want to avoid spending $200 in clicks to get $50 in sales.
If you're spending $5 to get 4 clicks and are concerned that spending $200 might only result in $50 sales then you might want to reconsider whether adwords is the best marketing option for your product. Adwords doesn't necessarily work for all products or services. You asked three questions above. Long tail keywords are keywords or phrases comprised of several words used in the search query. For example, 'cruise' is a keyword, 'seven day cruise on the Nile' might be a long tail. How much should your budget be? That all depends on the value of your conversions and also the effectiveness of your landing page(s). How to improve your websites to convert more? just try lowering your clic's bid, this can be a risk, because the lower the clic bid is, the lower they show your ad (this depends on your keywords), and also if your daily limit is low, this even lower the showing of your ad.
