Question about CPM ads

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by dshah, Jan 2, 2006.

I have signed up with domain A for adsense, and I run adsense ads on say few more domains.

Will these other domains get CPM ads? In other words, will these domains be listed in the adwords (site targeted ads option?) How will advertiser get to know about them (because advertise on this site link takes to the page for domain/site A)

Only if an advertiser specifically selects them. Site targeting (CPM ads) is done on a site level, not an account level.

Could you explain how to do this site level? For all my sites the 'advertise on this site' link takes to same page (for the original domain I signed up with)

Adwords users can select sites to advertise on via their Adwords interface. If someone clicks the "advertise on this site" link on your site and doesn not select any additional sites to advertise on during the ad creation process they will only run CPM ads on that specific site.

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think you got what I meant.

My question is how advertisers will be able to select my others sites for site targeting. I don't see a way because,

    • The 'Advertise on this site' link always takes user to page for the site with which I have registered in adsense.
    • Google won't list my 'other' sites on which I am running adsense in the adwords interface site target wizard

They would have to type in your url during the ad creation process.

    Thank You.

Do I have to explicitly turn ON the site targeted ads participation in adsense login somewhere? ( I thought its just you have to select text+image ads).

I have adwords account and I tried to create a test site targeted ad for my site, and it said 'this site is unavailable' :(

    You're automatically "opted in".

Could be a number of reasons...if you want to PM me your url I can take a look.

kikigg - CPM = cost per impression. the money you earn per page (ad?) that you show on other users. PSA = Public Service Adverts. When Adsense cannot find enough content in your site/section to serve relevant ads, you get PSAs. Or if Google doesn't have enough ads relating to the keyword target, you get PSAs too. Sometimes it's there for a short while, at other times will be there till you update content.

    hope it helps.

How do i know when im setting up adverts the correct CPM that will cause my adverts to show on a selected site.

Using CPC ive got hints to tell me the minimum bid however when im site targeting for CPM theres no hint. Im basically taking a stab at the cost right???

Yes. Start low, wait 24 hours, then up your bid a little. Wait another 24 hours and repeat.
