Question about CPC

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by bob25, Oct 14, 2010.

How is CPC determined if someone does a search for a keyword, clicks on a few pages, then clicks on an Adsense add? Is it the CPC of the original search term or the Adsense page that's clicked on. And if so how is the keyword on that page determined?

    Thanks

The Page Adsense is shown is triggering the Ads and if someone clicks an AD on that page you earn what that advertiser bid for that ad (minus 32% google share).
The previous page ( or initial search page) has nothing to do with it.
However I strongly believe that the initial search someone performed to land on your page is factored into the long term calculation of your websites worth for adsense.

To determine on page keywords Google Adsense is using a spider that crawls your pages and a complex algorithm to find the most relevant keywords.
However no one can tell you exactly how google does this because the algo is secret ;)

CPC is with the ad not with the search term. It is derived from the bid rate of advertiser for the specific ad.

The CPC is what money you get for one click. That is the CPC when you look at your stats in adsense.
In other places, CPC might mean something else, so tell where you look CPC

Then if that's the case in theory I should be able to use high search volume low CPC keywords, low competition keywords to get visitors to the site in hopes that they would click on another page with a high CPC. And using Google's Adwords tool to find the most relevant keywords and use those when creating links at my site and for backlinks. Then the trick would be to write catchy titles with the keywords in the title in the sidebar with hopes that they'ed click on it. In theory it should work right?

VERY high search volume and VERY low competition (VERY low CPC). Is it worth a try? I'm already creating the high CPC page and the high volume low CPC page would take less than an hour to create the page and throw a few backlinks at it to get it ranking.

    Thanks

You can make a quick buck with that but you can also easily get kicked from adsense.
This strategy is well known and one of the risky once.
The reason for this is that you build your site for Adsense (MFA or Made for Adsense) and not for the user.
And that is something google does not like.
