Question About CPA Landing/Squeeze Pages

I've been researching on how to make money with CPA email submit schemes.
I understand that I need to build a landing/squeeze page, but what I am not clear on is what exactly the landing page does. Would the visitor to the landing page actually enter their email address into the landing page or does the landing page purely act as a redirect to the affiliate's webpage?

Why do some landing page templates for CPA contain email auto-responders? Surely you want the user to enter their email address on the affiliate's page and not your landing page?

    Thanks and slightly confused.

Landing pages are not something that simple to be explained. There are a lot of types you can build. You can build a landing page with text and good design and iframe your affiliate offer there(blackhat and can be banned). You can also build a landing page with a lot of info about the product and put banners or/and links to that offer. It's the most common and legal way. The one that you mentioned about autoresponder is mostly for email marketers and a way to harvest highly targeted visitors. Once you have their emails you can send them a lot of emails with this niche offers.
I would go with a simple landing page with 200-300 words, 1 banner on top, 1 banner on bottom and a link in the end of the article. PPC advertising is hard this days, but it's your best way to go for advertising.

Hi Genchev, thanks for all that information. That clears things up for me. I'll create a landing page with links to the affiliate page, but without the email field.
