If I take an article written by someone else besides me and put it on my website but add their name and website to refernces/source at the bottom. Is it still copywriting?

Yes, it is still copyright infringement. Putting the source is not the same as obtaining permission.

Copywriting is the act of writing something that encourages the reader to take some action - usually buy a product or service.

Can you elaborate on the third point a little more?

Yes. As long as you are acknowledging the real author :) Or you may contact the author first if its alright to publish their contents otherwise you have provide your own opinion and link to the original article instead of pasting it on your site.

i would say that acknowledging the content as a quote would be fine.

MrPolarZero and srisen2, if you plan on writing for pay, you best learn the laws that govern the written word first. Acknowledgment of the original author does not make it legal to use someone else's words. Well-attributed excerpts are acceptable, full reprints are never OK without the original author's permission.
