I have just joined CB and I wanted to know something very basic. I know what is a conversion rate but I am still confused as what is it for the affiliates.

What is a conversion rate for you?

    1. You have 100 visitors to your page and you get one sale. That is the conversion rate of 1%.

    Or

    2. You send 100 visitors to the product page you are promoting and you get one sale.

I would like some help here if you can.

    Thanks for reading.

Visitor to sale conversion rate is actually the amount of visitors you sent to make 1 sale.
So if you send 100 visitors (hoplink clicks) to the merchant site and you get 1 sale out of those, it means you have a 1% conversion rate.

It has nothing to do with visitors on your OWN review site.
So in your example above, number 2 is correct when you are talking about a 1% conversion :)

There are 2 types of conversion rate:-

    1) website conversion rate
    2) product conversion rate

For website conversion rate, the first one is the answer. That means % of visitors to your website who buy something.

For product conversion rate, the second one is the answer. That means % of visitors to your product sales page who buy something.

But even "product conversion rate" massively depends on from where the sales page originates, that means which site promotes the product sales page, how the site is structured, how the product is presold etc.
