Hi all, I am curious, if your blog is a magazine type of deal, and you actually wrote articles with your own 100% original content once in awhile, would your "magazine-styled" content downrank your actual original content in google?.
I wouldn't even worry about Google. If anything, see if you can rank easily on Yahoo and Bing. Just continue to put up awesome content on your site, and people will find it - and distribute it around the internet (if you give them permission to do so).
Yes, don't expect much search traffic. I would think your traffic has to depend on social media and referrals from other sites.
Yes I agree with Keith...Social media is a lot helpful to gain popularity and if the content is original and interesting readers will definitely find it.
Yeah, it's mainly traffic coming from social media and the most part links back from other sites. It was an experiment to allow me to have at least "a blog" until I figured out what my niche was going to be. And it's the reason I'm still blogging. So I guess what will happen from here is that content that is on the site which is talking about other cool things from elsewhere, will rank OK, but not as my own content. Then content that is 100% mine, will rank higher. Maybe the only things that will rank low is guest posts with dofollow links, which I am making sure all guest posters know that I only allow rel="nofollow" links.
Don't obsess over ranking, since its going to be tough for non-original content. Better to focus on social and networking to get backlinks.
Believe it or not, the fact remains that many visitors will seek out your social media accounts before they even approach your website. Make sure to be consistent across all channels, sharing your best content. The best result brings Facebook, then comes Twitter and Pinterest or Instagram.
For my blog, I won't rely on search engine for the competition is freakin' tough. I agree with the majority, Social media is the best source of traffic for blogs.
I agree. With all the SEO talk in these forums, I think too much emphasis gets placed on search ranking. There is more than one way to skin a cat!
It is right that social media is the best platform for getting traffic. But you need to have a social media strategy about growing your network and posting updates, you need to know the taste of the people, and it will surely work for you.
Your content will continue to drive traffic as long the information is practical and updated, still relevant to the people reading the articles.
Since your are writing quality content you don't have to worry about Google because that's exactly what you are providing to Google. They love to see unique, fresh and quality content and once you provide it for them they will love you for doing that.
