In your opinion, is it ok to include a link to your blog, when you post a relevant comment on another blog? (In the actual body of the post, as opposed to just linking it to your name, as most blogs allow.) I have read that it is ok and I have read that it's frowned upon. Thoughts? Merry
Unless you post a link that has some relevance to the blog post you are commenting on and you would like that blog owners comment on, I think its best not to indulge in tactics such as these. I for one might treat these as spammy comments and same goes for Akismet which most wordpress bloggers use. In any case, blog running on wordpress already have nofollow attribute assigned to links in comments.
Unless you are letting a friend know about a comment or specific post, I wouldn't do it. There's one or two people on my blog (in sig) who do this, and I let it slide because they are frequent commentors. But most comments that come through like this I mark as spam. You don't want to get flagged by Akismet as a spammer, or very few of your comments will ever be read.
The last thing I want to do is appear 'spammy'. Seems like I've been doing it correctly, then. Thanks. Merry
Yeah, most bloggers will visit the sites of those who comment, so just make sure to enter that in the "website" field when commenting.
