Question about CMS's & eCommerce

Hi,

I'm building a new ecommerce website, and was thinking of using Joomla as the CMS.

My questions are, as I need a shopping cart, could I also use something like Magento with the site or does Magento also function as a CMS, which would mean I dont need Joomla?

Also, when getting the site designed, does it need to be designed with Joomla/Magento in mind, as I notice alot of templates are Joomla specific etc

If you check the Magento Demo you'll see that it's possible to create static content pages along with the shopping cart so I guess you don't need to install a second application like Joomla if you just need extra content pages on your ecommerce website.

Alternatively, if you still wish to have extended CMS capabilities on your website, then you could just install WordPress and the WP eCommerce plugin, that way you can still preserve the potential of extending the site's functionality anytime in the future with the use of plugins.

 

Thanks, does WP ecommerce plug-in support ability to upload product CSV's or allow data feeds?
