For anyone out there getting paid via check in their local currency (not US dollars)

Is the check in English? Does it say the usual "pay against this cheque bla bla bla"?

Does it say "Payable at Citibank, NA Through Citibank (New York State)?

If so, doesn't your bank say "hey, this is a foreign check, doesn't matter if it is in local currency"? You don't have any prblems at all depositing it in your local bank?

I am thinking about switching to getting paid in Mexican pesos, but want to make sure it won't cause any problems

Checks in Mexican pesos are all in English, except for your information, (if a Mexican address is enabled) and the legend "Para abono en cuenta"... ah, of course the amount, MXN $xxxxx

At the bottom it says, "Payable at Banco Nacional de México, S.A., Grupo Financiero Banamex", which is a Citigroup branch.

Yep, Based in Mexico City and having a Banamex account too :)

And what you say to Mong is true, after Banamex became part of the Citigroup, they didn't accept checks in dollars, when before they did it "salvo buen cobro"

Today the only issue that you can find is that prior accepting a check from Google, they may verify your average checking balace before authorize the deposit.
