Question about building backlinks (google SEO)

Discussion in 'Google' started by zhok, Sep 9, 2009.

I am trying to build backlinks to my new website (about dog breeds) posting comments on related blogs.

So far I only add backlinks to the index! My question is, if I build links to other pages (like mydomain.com/something/something.htm) it will also increase my SEO and page rank on google search? or only backlinks to index count?

    Thanks for helping!

    Google counts deep links too,
you can submit your site to web directories, promote on related forums etc to build up quality backlinks.

You know every single page having its own PageRank in a site. Usually the homepage rank higher than inner pages. When inner pages have a good PageRank, the whole site will benefit.

When ever I'm building backlinks, I always build my links to the most relevant page on my site.

    So for example:
If you have 5 pages on your website about dogs, you prolly have a page about dog food right? So, if you find a blog to post your comment on and that blog has something to do with "dog food" use your "dog food" inner link to link back from.

When you link back from a post or website, use the most relevant link you have --equals better link value..

What MikeTheBuilder said, many times people overlook this and point every single link they have to the home page when deep links are usually the better route to take.

Don't worry about "PR" it's a silly toolbar! Just link to relevant website's that offer quality.. "PR" will eventually come if you follow that principal.

every page has it's own page rank .. when you add deep links your backlinks is scored to this page not to the whole website

but it is better to direct your backlinks to your homepage as homepage is the most important pr in your website

totally agree with jason and mike as deap links are more important.
Like in blogs if a dicussion about a particular breed then it's better if you link to your website page that provides extra information on that particular breed.

Deep links for the win if you want good postions and correct landing pages in SERPs!

I do a mix of both deep backlinks and standard links to our business site and a mix for the blog too.

Deap links are important. But for a new site, I think you'd better to focus your homepage on link building. Since back links always bring PR to the page which they lead, a high PR homepage is very helpful in promoting your inner pages both on index rate and inner Pagerank. I'm not denying the importance of inner page link building. But you'd better to set an appropriate plan for your site in severl stepps of procedure according to the progress.

It still counts as back links and it helps increase your PR value.
