I have an open thread from last month for selling links in my sig. I posted to my thread to mention that my rss feed was still available, (buyer posted, then backed out). Got an infraction. Not complaining about the infraction. But now I want to sell links this month, and I don't know if I should continue using that thread, or start a new one. I don't want to get more infractions or a ban. Any guidance from the mods would be appreciated. Thx.
No. You can announce it's open again by linking to it from your signature. You cannot start duplicate threads for the same offer unless A) there are significant changes and B) you request that a moderator closes the first one (which is in their discretion). Note that if it's closed, and you still post the same offer, it's still a duplicate thread.
jhmattern, thanks. That's a little ambiguous about the thread closing though. I guess, basically, "you can't bump or repost" is the answer. Some feedback. BST generates a lot of the traffic and (indirectly) content here. I understand the rules against bumping, and the 7 day bans. Those are needed to a degree. We all know the problems with people getting into thread bump wars. But the rules are pretty seller unfriendly, which is to everyone's disadvantage. Like my infraction, which was the only way I could communicate in my thread that the rss feed was still available after the buyer backed out. I'm more than happy to make a single post to bump my thread, as I am not selling the same product. Sure it is sig links, but I was selling links in July, now I am selling links in August. I realize I am not allowed to, so I won't. But the rules punish good sellers doing business honestly, and in the long run, that is bad for everyone. Thanks again for the reply.
Yep, that's the answer. Whether or not we'll close a thread depends on the specific reason for the specific thread. Sig links do work for sellers (I've made them work quite successfully in the past, as have others). But they'll only work for people who actually contribute to the community via discussions - probably not so much for people who do nothing but come to post offers. Perfect? No, but neither was a bump-riddled cesspool of a marketplace unfortunately.
