Question about blog comments.

    Hi guys,

This may sound really stupid... but I've been receiving a lot of comments on my blog that start with: "[...]"

For ex: […] uoldoak wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptDo "

Is this spam? It looks like someone has re-posted my entry on their own blog. Is this a good thing or it is just another spammer trying to get backlinks?

    Thanks!
    Heather

This that means either the other people steal your content or someone write and link back to your post.
It will bring a link back but the link back is not the quality link back

It is not always a copied content link-back.

Some bloggers show link love and include your post as today's favorite posts etc. That sends a trackback to your blog.
You should not approve all the trackbacks, but check which are genuine and which are not.

It's a trackback. Go to the site before approving it since it may be autoblog spam.

That is from those annoying automated blogs. In reality they don't steal you're content since they do link back but still... You are giving them a free link as well...

Autoblogs that take your copyrighted content (that is if you state that it is copyrighted) STEAL your content whether they link back or not - make no mistake about it.

You will find that great many pingbacks come from those autoblogs and you can identify them easily as each portion of your stolen content prefixed with something to the effect:

"This dubmass wrote an interesting article today and here is an example - your partially stolen content here"

Replace the "dubmass" with the name of the "author" of the blog that steals your content and you get the picture. Generally always mark them as spam and you are golden. Just make sure not to spam links from blogs that are actually giving you link love and mention your article on their own pages. So visit and evaluate.
